for a project to join
Field of expertise: Vegetation ecology, biodiversity monitoring and ecological change, with a focus on long-term and trajectory-based approaches.
Main skills: • Long-term vegetation and biodiversity monitoring • Drone remote sensing, LiDAR and vegetation structure • Ecological data integration and quantitative analysis • Project management and interdisciplinary coordination
PhD vegetation ecologist with experience in permanent-plot monitoring, restoration and rewilding contexts, field methodology, remote sensing and integration of multi-source ecological data.
Research interests: Ecological trajectories and temporal dynamics, including how seasonal and phenological change can influence our understanding of ecosystem state, functioning and direction of change.
FutureGrounds is particularly interested in projects under Themes A and B that examine how ecological communities, structure and functioning change through time, how ecological transitions can be detected and interpreted, and how monitoring can support decisions under uncertain and non-linear ecosystem change.
I can contribute to project design and work packages involving long-term vegetation and biodiversity monitoring, field surveys and ground-truthing, drone-based observations, LiDAR-based ecosystem structure, multi-method monitoring, integration of historical and contemporary ecological datasets, and analysis of ecological trajectories.
I am also interested in temporal aspects of ecosystem change, including seasonal and phenological dynamics, interannual variability and longer-term trajectories, and in how the timing and frequency of observations may influence our interpretation of ecosystem state and functioning.
More broadly, I am interested in projects linking research with real-world restoration, rewilding or landscape management, where ecological observations can be translated into actionable indicators of ecosystem direction, resilience and emerging ecological states. FutureGrounds can also contribute as a bridge between academic research and practical implementation with land managers and conservation practitioners.
