Freshwater ecology, biodiversity assessment, eutrophication, phytoplankton ecology, ecological monitoring, microplastic pollution and ecotoxicology. My research focuses on how multiple anthropogenic and climate-related pressures alter the structure and functioning of lakes and reservoirs, including changes in phytoplankton communities, trophic dynamics, ecological status and contaminant exposure. I have experience in field-based monitoring, ecological assessment, interpretation of biological and environmental data, and restoration-oriented evaluation of freshwater ecosystems. I am particularly interested in contributing to projects investigating trajectories towards novel freshwater ecosystems, ecosystem resilience, biodiversity responses to environmental change, and opportunities for ecological restoration under changing climatic and nutrient conditions.
Hydrobiology
I am interested in joining a BiodivFuture consortium investigating how climate change and other anthropogenic pressures are driving transitions in freshwater ecosystems and reshaping biodiversity, trophic structure and ecosystem functioning. I am particularly interested in projects addressing eutrophication, phytoplankton dynamics, ecological resilience, emerging contaminants and restoration of lakes and reservoirs. I can contribute expertise in field-based freshwater monitoring, ecological assessment, biological and environmental data interpretation, microplastic and ecotoxicological studies, and restoration-oriented evaluation. I am especially keen to contribute to comparative studies examining trajectories towards novel freshwater ecosystems and identifying management or restoration pathways that support biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
