Our group focuses on the conservation and restoration of forest ecosystems, integrating biodiversity objectives into sustainable and multifunctional forest management. We assess habitat condition, ecological functionality, structural complexity and landscape connectivity, while addressing pressures such as climate change, intensive herbivory, wildfire risk, habitat fragmentation and recreational use. Our applied research supports the design, implementation and evaluation of restoration and threat-mitigation actions, with particular attention to threatened species and forest habitats of high ecological value.
We combine forest and biodiversity indicators with field surveys, remote sensing, camera trapping, passive acoustic monitoring, telemetry and AI-based monitoring systems. Working closely with public authorities, protected-area managers and other stakeholders, we translate scientific evidence into conservation planning, adaptive management and transferable restoration approaches for resilient forest landscapes.

We are interested in joining collaborative projects focused on the restoration and conservation of forest ecosystems. Our main interests include assessing the effects of visitor flows and recreational activities on biodiversity, addressing human–wildlife conflicts, and integrating biodiversity objectives into sustainable forest management. We can contribute expertise in restoration planning and evaluation, biodiversity monitoring, forest and wildlife ecology, and the application of emerging technologies, including remote sensing, camera traps, passive acoustic monitoring and AI-based systems. We are particularly interested in projects that connect scientific evidence with practical management, stakeholder engagement and public policy.
