I am a biologist with a PhD in Biological Sciences and a MSc in Wildlife Management. As a researcher at CONICET (Argentina), my expertise focuses on the ecology, impacts, and control of invasive alien mammals, particularly wild boar (Sus scrofa) and introduced deers. I work in national parks and productive landscapes, combining field-based ecological research with applied conservation and management strategies. I lead national and international research projects and supervise doctoral and master's theses in the field. My research integrates wildlife monitoring, human-wildlife conflict, species interactions, and ecosystem impacts. I have authored over 25 peer-reviewed scientific articles and books, with highlights including: Barrios-Garcia, M. N., & Ballari, S. A. (2012). Impact of wild boar (Sus scrofa) in its introduced and native range: a review. Biological invasions; Ballari, S. A., & Barrios‐García, M. N. (2014). A review of wild boar Sus scrofa diet and factors affecting food selection in native and introduced ranges. Mammal Review; Ballari, S. A., Anderson, C. B., & Valenzuela, A. E. (2016). Understanding trends in biological invasions by introduced mammals in southern South A merica: A review of research and management. Mammal Review.

I am looking to join interdisciplinary and applied research projects focused on the management and control of invasive alien species, particularly large mammals such as wild boar (Sus scrofa) and introduced deer. I am especially interested in initiatives that combine ecological, socio-economic, and governance perspectives to address the complex impacts of these species in natural, rural, and urban landscapes. I would like to contribute to projects that assess biodiversity and ecosystem impacts, as well as those that quantify economic and productive losses (e.g. crop damage, livestock impacts), evaluate road-kill risks and mitigation strategies, or examine the role of invasive species in urban and peri-urban conflict scenarios. I am also keen to join collaborative efforts involving wildlife monitoring, decision-making tools for management, and stakeholder engagement across conservation and productive sectors. I bring experience working with protected areas, academic institutions, and public agencies, and I value projects that promote practical outcomes and knowledge transfer.
I will attend the Jornadas Argentinas de Mastozoología 2025 to be held in El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina, in September. I am also open to regular communication and collaboration through virtual meeting platforms to facilitate international networking and project development.
