I am looking for a project to join
Strong background in conservation management and wildlife biology, with a focus on human-nature interactions and conflict mitigation, particularly concerning large carnivores and agriculture. Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and participatory processes, employing semi-structured interviews and quantitative questionnaires to identify shared challenges and develop collaborative solutions.
Specialized in conflict mitigation strategies related to wolf presence in the Alpine region, with a particular emphasis on adapting livestock husbandry systems to coexist with large carnivores. Research and practical implementation focus on summer pasture grazing and shepherding, exploring ways to enhance biodiversity, reduce soil erosion, and promote the role of guided grazing and permanent shepherding as effective protection measures.
Dedicated to advancing contract-based nature conservation in the province of Bolzano, aiming to expand this approach to other regions. Goal is to support sustainable farming practices, enhance biodiversity, and account for ecosystem services provided.
Additional expertise includes:
• Herd protection, pastoralism, and extensive pasture grazing
• GIS modeling
• Peer-to-peer learning methodologies (from farmers for farmers)
• Conference and workshop organization
• Project management of large-scale European projects

FARMMAN
-There is a need to develop alternative income sources and incentives for farmers implementing biodiversity-friendly agricultural practices and providing ecosystem services, particularly in the context of the European Nature Restoration Law and its policy framework.
-Empirical evidence from other projects highlights the importance of co-developing solutions and fostering adaptive management processes to ensure long-term acceptance and commitment from farming communities.
- Our ongoing efforts focus on establishing a contract-based nature conservation system in South Tyrol, in order to motivate farmers to transform their management systems were possible. Integrating expertise and best practices from other regions would enhance the effectiveness of this approach.
