I belong to a research group made up of scientists from the Faculty of Marine Sciences of the University of Vigo and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC), currently associated in the EcoAfrik platform, and with more than 20 years of experience in collaborating on projects to study and conserve the biodiversity and benthic ecosystems of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans in Africa.
Some of the research we did:
- Scientific and technical management and coordination of international multidisciplinary projects and teams in cooperation with third countries.
- Design, implementation and development of new projects and lines of research on the biodiversity of benthic ecosystems.
- Design, implementation and management of multidisciplinary benthic ecosystem research campaigns in national and international waters (mountains and submarine banks, high Antarctic, third countries) (50 campaigns).

- Marine spatial planning and proposal for the creation of networks of MPAs.
- Ecological Vulnerability Analysis (EVA) and Biodiversity Action Plans (BAP).
- Analysis of the impact of trawling on biodiversity and benthic ecosystems.
- Cooperation and knowledge transfer, training and capacity building of third countries.
-Advising Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) on VMEs
- Organisation of courses, conferences and educational exhibitions for the general public.
