Triton was founded in 2021 as a third sector organization with the aim of raising awareness and combating indifference towards the sea. The mission of the Association is to expand the resources available for the protection of all marine ecosystems. The Association aims to implement initiatives focused on protecting coastal and marine species and habitats, supporting the creation and non-profit management of protected areas such as reserves, parks, and marine sanctuaries, and encouraging public authorities to take action. It also seeks to acquire and manage coastal and marine natural areas to conserve biodiversity, promote sustainable fishing practices that respect the environment and social equity, and encourage sustainable use of the sea, including nature tourism, cultural tourism, and responsible whale-watching. The team has experience in the design and management of international projects aimed at the conservation of biodiversity.
