My main study organisms are phytoplankton and diatoms in particular. I have worked with ecological assessments of phytoplankton populations including development of new eDNA techniques. I have experience with toxicity analysis of toxic diatoms. Currently I work with viruses infecting diatoms and have isolated new viruses. I studied the effect these infections have on carbon export, aggregation and bloom termination.

I would like to join or start a project that looks into how viruses shape biodiversity and how potential human factors such as pollution or human induced invasion can come into play. My group is also willing to contribute to any project taking advantage of time-series data and offer our wide expertise in phytoplankton analysis, both genetic and morphological.
