- Modeling of population and community dynamics subject to various kinds of environmental change. - Analysis of population abundance time series to infer the influence of putative environmental and demographic variables in natural ecosystems. - Analysis of dynamic stability and network robustness in ecosystems. - Coexistence theory. - Multiple stressor research. - Consequences of biodiversity change for ecosystem function. - Model-based analysis of field observations of community composition. - Metacommunity ecology. - Eco-evolutionary dynamics. - Community-level ecotoxicology. - Experiments with plankton communities in microcosms. - I work on all these concepts and techniques and apply them across a broad range of freshwater, marine, and terrestrial model systems.

I would like to join a project that envisions an understanding of anthropogenic impacts on community composition, biodiversity, and/ or ecosystem function, ideally within a project that leverages available data that can be used to test model predictions. I am mostly interested in the conceptual side of things and am therefore not picky on the kind of environment under examination (past projects have focused on a variety of ecosystems (marine, freshwater, terrestrial, plants, microbes)).
predictive ecological modeling, theoretical ecology, analysis of field data, model validation, multiple stressors, ecosystem stability, biodiversity modeling, ecosystem function, community ecology, trait-based ecology
