We work with historical ecology, archaeobotany and integrated landscape analysis.
Specifically, we study ecosystems and agroecosystems adopting long term perspectives (from decades to millennia) and, thanks to the adoption of methods from paleoecology and archaeobotany (e.g. analysis of past-present pollen and phytoliths, macrofossils, etc.) we can reconstruct past vegetation dynamics, so that to better understand current state of eco- and agrosystems.
In our methods, we integrate also traditional ecological knowledge from local community and geospatial analysis.
