I am looking for a partner (for my project)
Bárbara Teixeira-Costa is a Professor from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Federal Fluminense University (UFF), Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'm also a professor to the post-graduation program in Biotechnology at the Federal University of Amazonas (PPGBIOTE/UFAM), Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. I have beem working with the physico-chemical diversity and characterization of foods from Brazilian Biomes, especially the Amazon, with the development of technological products based on bioeconomy, green chemistry and sustainability. Some of my researches are linked to the development of bioactive encapsulating systems with potential application in various areas of biotechnology, development and characterization of biodegradable packaging based on natural biopolymers, such as alginate, chitosan and starches (Non-Conventional Food Plants - PANC's). I have also an expertise on the research and development of new alcoholic beverages with Amazonian raw materials, characterization of vegetable oils from non-conventional sources from the Amazon, using different traditional and green extraction techniques, and focusing on the quality of the profile of fatty acids and bioactive substances, aiming at human dietary supplementation and application in health products.
