Our group is fully committed to water and food safety and has extensive experience in the area of identification of bacteria and protozoa in surface, wastewater and drinking water using molecular techniques. Another of the fields of research in which we are working and in which interesting results have already been obtained, is the monitoring of bacterial communities in conventional activated sludge systems and membrane bioreactors with new generation sequencing (NGS) techniques. We are also is focused on prevalence and dissemination of emergent contaminants and antimicrobial resistance through the food chain and environment.
