I work with ecology and microbial biotechnology. My experience has been with environmental and plant-associated microorganisms (endophytes); We recently started a line of research with animal microbiota. Our focus is to understand environmental and anthropogenic factors that interfere with the microbiota, and obtain microorganisms capable of controlling pathogens (biological control), promoting plant growth, bioremediation of toxic metals, and probiotics.
We use culture-dependent and -independent techniques to access the microbiota associated with plants and animals. We implemented several ecotoxicological tests to evaluate the bioremediation process and environmental risk.
