I am looking for a project to join
I am Nalaka Geekiyanage, a Senior Lecturer with approximately 12 years of experience in teaching and research inEcological Restoration, Ecosystem Services, Tree Ecophysiology, Tree Abiotic Stress to Temperature and Water, Landscape Ecology, and Forest Ecology. My passion for being a plant ecologist was instilled in me during my B.Sc. (2010) and M.Sc. (2013), which I obtained from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. The rich ecosystem diversity of this country, that is representative of many forest types within the equatorial belt, provided me with a solid foundation for studying forest ecology and conservation. After this training I followed a Ph.D. (2018) at the Kyoto University, Japan. During this time, I extended the study of plant functional ecology to a less-studied ecosystem, i.e., karst forests of South China.
Upon returning to a faculty position in Sri Lanka, I developed a model forest corridor connecting fragmented forest patches to Sinharaja World Heritage rainforest complex through human dominated landscapes. I am facianted to join projects focusing on teaching and reasearch on Ecological Restoration, Ecosystem Services, Tree Ecophysiology, Tree Abiotic Stress to Temperature and Water, Landscape Ecology, and Forest Ecology. As a Senior Lecturer in Forestry at my university I have a laboratory setup, hosting oppotunities for tropical field studies in rainforests and dry forests inclduing established field stations. I am looking for projects that can best utilise these resources and improve on them through mutual enagagements.
ecological restoration, ecosystem services, tree ecophysiology, tree abiotic stress to temperature and water, landscape ecology, forest ecology, biodiversity monitoring, agroforestry, agroecology
