Project title: Biodiversity studies in ecological corridors of green infrastructure. Estimation of the level of genetic similarity between the populations of plant species within the existing ecological corridors, including barriers and areas of good migration for plant species.

Commonly known and used elements of green infrastructure forming ecological corridors are included in the definition of the EU Strategy for the Protection of Biological Diversity (2020). It is a planned network of managed areas to protect the value and functions of ecosystems that provide ecosystem services to societies. It is very important in the context of biodiversity protection, which is understood as the diversity of fauna and flora, and ecological connectivity in this respect should take into account ecosystems of legally protected areas, but also forest areas, meadow complexes and wetlands.

The proposed project concerns the implementation of transnational research on ecological corridors within green infrastructure, and its main goal is to provide potential stakeholders with appropriate knowledge, tools and solutions for the protection and restoration of biodiversity in order to provide a range of ecosystem services and to develop solutions that will deal with natural environment preservation. In its assumption, the research part of the project will be based on spatial analyzes (GIS) and genetic studies of connectivity of natural habitats.
