I hold a degree with master's equivalence in Biology (FCUL, 1993-1998) and a postgraduation in Ecology, particularly focused on the use of biodiversity indicators in the management of protected areas (FCUL, 2000-2005). I’m also postgraduated via the doctoral programme in Geography and Spatial Planning (FCSH-NOVA, 2011-2014) and in Engineering and Management (IST-UL, 2014-2015).
I’m the co-founder and current CEO of NBI - Natural Business Intelligence (2020-Present), a strategy consultancy specialized in biodiversity, ecosystem services, agroecology and bioeconomy. Previously, I was the co-founder of AmBioDiv - Valor Natural, the first Portuguese start-up in biodiversity management (2005-2010), and I was also part of the founding team, as Director of Sustainability, at Sun Concept - Solar Boat Builders, a start-up dedicated to the construction of solar electric boats (2015-2017).
Additionally, I’m a lecturer in the post-graduation course in Sustainability Management at IDEFE/ISEG, the co-coordinator of the online course "Ecosystem Services, Business and Finance", promoted by ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management and with the support of the Environmental Fund of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action, and lecturer in the Post-Graduation in Circular Bioeconomics at Universidade Lusófona. I’m a Scientific Advisor in the Working Group for the implementation of an R&D agenda in Alentejo Wines and was an Ecosystem Manager at Esporão Group (2016-2020).
