Research interests:
Studies are aimed to investigate various aspects of marine fish biology, biodiversity and ecology as well as fishery resources and management. Special attention is given to
1) ecology of Mediterranean mesopelagic and bathypelagic fish;
2) sustainable use of fishing resources and fishery management, with particular attention to small-scale fisheries;
3) trophic ecology of fish and stomach content analysis (expert in the identification of fish otoliths and cephalopod beaks in the guts).
4) ecology and behaviour of large pelagic fish
5) ecology and taxonomy of cephalopods;
Other research interests: i) fish age and growth; iii) ii) marine litter; iv) biodiversity in marine habitats, including banks, seamounts, volcanic areas; vi) effects of MPAs protection on fishery resources; vii) Non indigenous species
