Ecosystem modeling focusing on fisheries management, stock assessment and marine resources dynamics. Recently involved in the EU HORIZON 2020 PANDORA (Paradigm for New Dynamic Resource Assessments and Exploitation) whose aim was to provide new biological knowledge on fish and their ecosystems to assess the status of fish stocks and improve science-based advice to fisheries management for the blue growth of Europe’s fisheries resources. At the same time, collaborated in ECOGESTOCK (ecosystem approach for conservation and management of biological resources and fish stocks in internal waters) FEAMP (P. 1 Measure 1.44). The project implied data collection on target commercial as well as invasive species in two coastal Sardinian lagoons to evaluate the natural recruitment potential via prediction models (i.e. ATLANTIS). It involved the active participation of local fishermen and their cooperatives. The data collection is continuing in one of the lagoons with an auto-financed project.

Theme 1- innovation and harmonization of methods and tools for collection and management of biodiversity monitoring data Theme 2 – addressing knowledge gaps on biodiversity status, dynamics and trends to reverse biodiversity loss. A specific environment we’d like to explore regards transitional waters and lagoon ecosystems with a focus on the ichthyofauna.
