My colleagues from our institute and myself, we have extensive experience with collecting data (predominantly flora, butterfly, and plant communities - phytosociology), monitoring (plant communities, population sizes - plant and butterfly (MRR)), and analyzing temporal changes due to different types of management from many conservation applicative projects. Scientifically, we study plant communities in different habitats (forest, grassland, wetlands, coastal, arable fields, ruderal), their diversity, plant composition, classification, etc. on a local, regional, and continental scale (also with big dataset of phytosociological data). We study butterfly ecology (oviposition, population sizes) and apply it to conservation aims (nursing, supplementation, and reintroduction). We also perform behavior studies (mostly on spiders) with a focus on mating behavior and sexual dimorphism and their heritability. For these studies, we have facilities for rearing, photography, weighting etc. We have a vast network of international collaborators from the whole of Europe.

We would be very interested in joining projects that incorporate biodiversity data collection (flora, fauna, and plant communities), data management, big biodiversity dataset analyses, and use of such data in nature conservation (rearing, supplementation, reintroduction, monitoring scheme setups), and management planning. We could offer knowledge of national (Slovenian) state-of-art on the topics above so that you can broaden the consortium (and project sites), or contribute to related partial project aims.
