My research focuses on using molecular biology, genetics, genomics, transcriptomic, metagenomics and bioinformatics tools to investigate lactation, disease resistance, productive and reproductive traits, products quality, climate adaptation and sustainability in domestic animal species. Studies on candidate genes for the discovery of polymorphisms (SNPs) and molecular markers to be employed in assisted genetic improvement (MAS) have been conducted over the years, as well as studies on the genetic diversity of animal species/breeds. Both sequencing techniques and SNP arrays are used in the aforesaid tasks. I also deals with functional genetics and functional genomics studied both by RT-qPCR techniques and high throughput methodologies (RNAseq).
